ITS Intern at HDR, Inc.

Worked as a summer intern under Amol Ranade

Transurban, I-95 Bi-directional Feasibility/Concept Design- Developed and managed a comprehensive ArcGIS database of ITS devices, power, communication, and lighting cabinets; identified impacted ITS and Toll Collection infrastructure for Transurban and VDOT, and optimized AID camera detection zones in the conceptual design.

Virginia Department of Transportation, I-64 Hampton Roads Express Lanes- Prepared and revised ITS and Signing designs for I-64 HREL projects (Segments 1B and 4A/4B), including tolling, power, and communication infrastructure; reviewed shop drawings for overhead sign structures, DMS signs, CCTV Cameras, and MVDS.

Texas Department of Transportation, US 54 (Patriot Freeway) Feasibility/Concept Design- Conducted a feasibility study for road sign design and express lane placement, reviewed and redesigned traffic signs, and ensured compliance with regulations to optimize sign placement for improved traffic flow and safety.

May 2024 - December 2024
Autonomous Traffic Monitoring and Analysis System
Patent - developed a Python-based solution to estimate vehicle trajectory, acceleration, and velocity profiles from video streams captured from various angles, up to 30 degrees from the horizontal. This involved implementing YOLOv4 for object detection and tracking alongside classical computer vision techniques to classify vehicles and accurately estimate their motion. The algorithm was rigorously tested across different camera angles, with a functional prototype successfully deployed on Jetson Nano and IMX cameras. The system was then deployed for local traffic monitoring, generating detailed reports for further analysis. This work was recently submitted to the Transportation Engineering Journal of ASCE and has been filed for patent protection (Patent Number: 202221057506).
