Paul Kayembe

Majored in Peacebuilding & Development, Sociology, Minored in Pre-Law, Political Studies, English
Eastern Mennonite University, Class of 2022
From Kinshasa
From the Democratic Republic of Congo; Paul first attended Intensive English Program (IEP) before he enrolled in Peacebuilding and Development (PXD) in Fall of 2016. With a double major in PXD and Sociology, and three minors in Pre Law, Political Science, and English, Paul has served on the Student Government Association first as Senator, then as Vice President, , respectively from 2017-2018, and 2018-19. He also served as Chairperson for the International Student Organization( ISO) from 2017 to 2018. Throughout this time, with the assistance from exceptional EMU students, Paul raised close to $6000 for UNICEF in support of their life saving efforts. During his leadership, ISO inspired to be more than just a student club; instead, they became an ally to fight against sexual violence in the world. Poetry is the very few things that he enjoys doing in his spare time, although not that much of spare time. After grad school, Paul plans to become a strong advocate for the cause of Women and Children, survivors of sexual violence and the underprivileged, globally. Changing the world should not be a slogan, but a concretization, he would say.
