Philip Botta

University of Delaware
From Hockessin, DE
My name is Philip Botta and I am a University of Delaware Senior studying Exercise Science with a concentration in Exercise Physiology. Through my time at the University I have learned many things concerning the human body, physics, psychology and others, but what this summary is a testament to is what I have learned outside of the classroom. I have been a leader for as long as I can remember. No matter what the task I would complete it to the best of my abilities and get others to do the same. Being prepared for an challenge or for any assignment is essential to my success and something I take great pride in. Entering college I was a freshman who was concerned with making friends and doing well in school. After a time I yearned for more and after a friends recommendation I joined the Resident Student Association. From that point on my network of people grew and the opportunities presented themselves left and right. I am never one to pass on a opportunity and always look for new and exciting experiences. Through my many involvements I have gained invaluable leadership and time management skills, public speaking and presenting skills and many others. One of my most important qualities is leadership and to be a good leader one must be able to self evaluate and look at one's self with a critical lens. During my time in college I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunities to really challenge my leadership skills and reflect on areas in which I am strong and weak. I have learned how to adapt to certain situations and how to effectively create a group dynamic. I have taken many self evaluating tests such as, Meyers-Briggs, strengthsquest, Strength Development Inventory, and the Thomas Kilmann Instrument. What these test have said and what I believe about myself is that I have the ability to create a comfortable and efficient team dynamic that is task orientated.
