Brandon Katzung Hokanson

I grew up in rural Minnesota with a background in agriculture and a strong interest in history. I have been heavily involved in the agricultural youth group, 4-H, in which I have taken many leadership roles. I also volunteered extensively with my county's historical society. I have continued to fill leadership roles in school at Gettysburg College. Right now, I am president of the Gettysburg chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, an American honors society in history. I also am a co-editor in chief of the Gettysburg Historical Journal. My academic interests currently focus on historical and anthropological research in Africa. In particular, I'm interested in the history and application of agriculture in Africa, as well as past and current Chinese developments in the continent. I appreciate working towards finding a career that is both meaningful to me and helpful to other people.
