Majoring in Mat Biological Sciences
Miami University , Class of 2018
From Gardners, Pa.
Hello! I am Jennifer Peglow and live in South Central Pennsylvania. My husband, daughters (7 and 3) and I live about 30 minutes north of Gettysburg surrounded by apple trees and other fruit orchards. I have been a teacher for 15 years, teachings students of all socio-economics status and academic abilities. I currently teach 9th grade Earth/Environmental Science and just found out that I will be teaching one section of 10th grade biology next year. In the past, I taught English/Language Arts for grades 7-12 for 8 years before switching to teach middle and, now, high school science. I am am avid pursuer of knowledge and life-long learner. I am always on a quest to understand meaningful learning and how to best help my students enjoy learning and focus on it, not the grade. Designing authentic learning activities and environments are at the heart of my teaching practice. I am a large supporter of project/problem-based learning as well as connecting my students with experts to answer questions and providing engaging discussions. I have earned a Masters Degree in Science Education from Lesley University in 2007, and I am a National Geographic JASON Project Alumni Teacher and DARWIN DAY Scholar.
