October, 15 2024 - Verified by Kettering UniversityInfusion Limits Project (Spring 2026):
-Objective: Evaluate the maximum resin flow distance to determine the possibility of extending current yacht dimensions.
-Conduct flow tests, one at vertical 20 feet and one at horizontal 150 feet, where both distances proved too far.
-Conduct ASTM Tensile Properties Test and ASTM Flexural Properties Test.
-Applied calculations for hose friction, required resin grams for tests, and the theoretical infusion limits.
Alternative Knitted Project (Winter 2026):
-Objective: To evaluate alternative fiberglass as a backup to current fiberglass, via flow test and mechanical properties.
-Built test panels via closed molding resin infusion, post-cured with a Thermotron environment test chamber.
-Conducted ASTM mechanical tests with a mechanical test machine.
-Conducted composite-specific tests such as flow test via closed molding infusion, fiber weight fraction test via incinerator.
