Chiquita Jones

Majored in Ed.S. School Counseling
Valdosta State University, Class of 2018
From Ray City, Georgia
The path I imagined for myself after high school never included becoming a school counselor or an educator. It included becoming a medical doctor. The road that has been chosen for me is where I have blossomed and have used every skill acquired over the years. My career as a School Counselor is not just a job. It is my heart. It is my way of changing the world, one child at a time. Through Valdosta State, I have received three degrees and working on my last, my Specialist in School Counseling. Each degree has been used differently to help children in our community and has enhanced or helped me perform better as a middle school counselor. I have worked in the field of education for 17 years Currently, I have worked as a school counselor for five years, and am one of two counselors serving students at Lowndes Middle School in South Lowndes County. I am also married to my husband, Leroy for 11 years, and we have twin 9-year old boys. When I am not working, I enjoy cooking, crafting, exercising, and reading.
