During my four years in college, two vital experiences have shaped how I approach life. These experiences have helped me recognize that life is always in transition. And so while I came to college with the intention of majoring in Political Studies and getting my Masters degree in Political Studies, as I now reach the end of my college journey, my life took unexpected turn and I realized my deep passion for Business. Although, I have a strong base in political studies, I realized that adding Business to my academic repertoire will furnish my future endeavors.
One of my profound personal achievements was volunteering with FIKIR, a non-profit organization in Ethiopia. I was involved in discussing solutions to prospective issues like early marriage that have crippled the bright futures of many young Ethiopian girls. Not only did my internship help me think critically in finding solutions to these problems, it also made me aware of that the existing knowledge and understanding of business within most Ethiopian organizations (including the one I was doing my internship with) is inadequate, which opened a new path for my future academic endeavors.
My passion for multi-cultural and socio-political issues, however, begun prior to my volunteer job in Ethiopia with my internship as program assistant with World Chicago (non-profitable organization) exposed me to variety of cultures and gave me a chance to put into practice what I learned at college. My primary contributions writing proposal and research helped me realize that strong foundations in both Business and Political Science will pave the way for me to become an entrepreneurial, one who sees the world as it could and even should be.

ESL Volunteer Tutor at Erie Neighborhood House
I work with adults who are learning the English language skills necessary for living and working in
the community. I work one-on-one with individuals who desire to acquire English language skills.
What I liked best about the tutoring was the satisfaction gained by knowing you were helping the pupils to learn and the enthusiasm of the pupils to learn English. They helped me increase my self-confidence as it made me feel useful.
