Rodney Allen
Rodney Allen Jr. has been an avid musician and educator for over nine years. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Clayton State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree with a concentration in Jazz Studies at Georgia State University.
Rodneys versatility makes him high in demand as a working musician and educator. His primary instrument is the saxophone and is proficient in other woodwinds, keyboards, and percussion. Rodney is also skilled in composing, arranging, and producing music through music software programs.
Rodney's current musical involvement includes his participation in Georgia State Universitys Jazz ensembles, music director/pianist for Connect Baptist Church, and freelancing gigs in a variety of performance styles.
Rodney has taught private lessons for several years in the Atlanta area and also worked as a music instructor for the Atlanta Music Project (AMP) and Southwest Arts Center. He also led group instruction classes for the music programs at Westlake High School and Stonewall Tell Elementary School.
Rodney's musical zeal has driven him to join the Xi Eta chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America Inc. at Morehouse College. He has held offices of Alumni Relations Officer and Warden. In July of 2015, Rodney was selected as clarinetist to perform with the Sinfonia Wind Ensemble at the 55th National Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a member of Phi Mu Alpha, Rodney advances music in America through leadership and service.
