Ravenwood Veterinary Clinic Volunteer
I took on responsibilities as directed by staff at the clinic, which gradually became more complex. Such included cleaning kennels, walking and/or holding patients, filling prescriptions, drawing blood/urine, administering medications to patients, cleaning teeth, and helping prepare patients for surgery and for post-surgery, among others. Across both summers, I volunteered for more than 200 hours across about 8 weeks total.

Model United Nations (MUN)
I was a part of this club from my sophomore through my senior year, in which I gradually became more involved in the Historical Crisis Committee (HCC). As the Head Chair of the HCC in my junior and senior years, I was responsible for writing the background paper, selecting delegates for my council, training both of my co-chairs, and running the actual committee during the Old City Model United Conference. Outside of the HCC, I researched and debated with my peers relevant international events, coaching the underclassmen during our weekly meetings and then participating as a delegate during conferences with other schools in the spring.

Health Occupations Students of America
As an officer, I organized and ran monthly member and officer meetings, as well as school-wide fundraisers and projects. I was also an advocate to get more involved in all of the activities HOSA has to offer, including competitions, volunteer opportunities, school-wide fundraising competitions, college and career panels, elementary school health presentations, and school-wide blood drives, among various other activities. As an individual, I found my niche in competing in the official HOSA veterinary science competitions, placing fourth in the state my sophomore year and first in my junior year. Both years, I competed in the International Leadership Conference (ILC), making it to the final round of 25 competitors. Senior year competition were cancelled due to COVID-19.

Working Hand, Delivery Driver at Natural Springs Dairy

Every day I would herd in all of the milking cows -usually 12 out of 15 head- and wash them before attaching them to the automatic milker. I would then be responsible for release each 'batch' of 6 cows when they were done and then empty the milk into a separate vat. I would then have to clean out all of the tubing for the machines ad pressure wash the entire dairy barn, taking about an hour or more total. Other responsibilities varied day by day, including, but not limited to: collecting and washing eggs, cleaning out the chicken coups, feeding and watering all the animal pens in the morning, making and processing cheese and beef jerky, labelling and filling milk jugs, sorting and labelling egg cartons, sorting produce and discarding rotten ones, catching loose chicks and attending to the calves that were separated from the milking mothers. On Tuesdays, I would also be responsible for delivering company orders across a 60-mile radius, and contacting customers if they weren't there to pick up their orders or if they had an outstanding balance.
