September, 16 2019 - Verified by Hudson Valley Community CollegeAs part of this internship, I learned how a publicly funded organization functions, maintains and serves its community. Many of the jobs varied from assisting children's education, supervising student's lunches, and helping in the food pantry. The task would vary upon the day and the students that I would have to deal. Working in an agency where children's education and emotion is a priority that also influence their motivation in learning, I learned the basic fundamentals of child care and supervision.
Aside from working with the children, I gained experiences with responsibility of being a teacher assist and assisting in their activities. With each responsibility, I learned to be flexible with both the physical and temporal resources which the agency provided.
I have applied to DLBCC as a Maintenance worker -which was actually more like house keeping. Within the first day of the job, I was assigned to be the leader and supervisor of the maintenance crew. Since I was the only maintenance worker with a drivers license, I was also assigned to drive a truck when doing bathroom checks and cleaning, outdoor or garbage clean up, and transporting supplies around.
As a personal choice, I applied as part-time to work at a preschool as a classroom aide. As an introduction to the organization, I learned how it functions, maintains and serves its community. The tasks given were expectantly demanding, due to the social restrictions and regulations, even after the pandemic. Working in this organization strongly encourages motivating children in educational, social, and spiritual growth. The organization also strictly follows safety protocols for the well-beings of the children both emotionally, physically, and environmentally.
Aside from working with the children, I gained experiences with responsibility like janitorial maintenance and flexible assistance. With each responsibility, I learned to be flexible in all jobs I am given.
As part of this internship, I learned how a non-profit organization functions, maintains and serves its community. The range of jobs within the agency varied from working in the warehouse, to being an intake, and sometimes working as a database recorder and researcher.
Certain tasks were more demanding than others. Working in the warehouse required physical labor while working as an intake required more social interactions, and working as a database recorder/research required patience and basic knowledge of technology.
Due to the social restrictions and regulations from the pandemic, we learned to adapt and serve the community in the healthy way possible.
As part of this internship, I learned how a non-profit organization functions, maintains and serves its community. Many of the jobs varied from assisting in the kitchen, tutoring children in their after school program, and being a child care taker. The task was not as demanding, due to the social restrictions and regulations from the pandemic. Working in an agency where children's needs are to be met, I learned the basic fundamentals of child care and supervision.
Aside from working with the children, I gained experiences with responsibility like janitorial maintenance, technical assistance, and culinary assistance. With each responsibility, I learned to be flexible with both the physical and temporal resources which the agency provided.
