Hello, my name is Rebecca Murch! I have a B.A. in Industrial and Innovative Design through Cedarville University partnered with the International Center for Creativity. I am originally from New Hampshire, the oldest of four siblings and have a variety of interests, including competitive debate, calligraphy, studio art, hiking and travel. My determination, creativity and spirit of adventure play into my personal goal: to design empathetic, functional & aesthetically-pleasing solutions that address unmet needs big or small. With every project, I strive to better understand the potential users in order that my designs are user-driven, appealing and approachable.

Cedarville University Debate Team

2016-2017: Participated in NPDA debate with the Cedarville Debate team, competing in 4 tournaments over the course of the season. At the Wheaton college tournament, my partner and I placed 3rd, and I received the 4th place speaker award. 2017-2018: Participated in NPDA debate with the Cedarville Debate team, competing in 6 tournaments over the course of the season. Advanced to out-rounds at 3 tournaments and received a speaker award at one. 2018-2019: Participated in NEDA debate with the Cedarville Debate team, attending weekly meetings, doing research assignments, practice debate rounds, and attending 5 tournaments over the course of the season. Competed in both crossfire debate and team policy debate styles. Received multiple speaker awards as well as team placement awards, making finals twice. Advanced to semi-finals and received 6th place varsity team-policy speaker award at the National tournament.

Senior Capstone: Redefined Bathroom Products for Fall Assistance & Response

16 week project: - Designed for personal industrial design capstone project for senior year of industrial design program. - Conducted first and secondary research and various methods to identify and understand problem at hand. - Developed 3 products to prevent and respond to falls in the bathroom, aiming to rid of the negative association these products can have with aging and disability.

Interior Space Design Project

4 week project: - Collaborated with a team to design an interior for the International Center for Creativity relocation project. - Presented the concept of “mechanically-crafted” to capture the essence of the environment. - Developed a floorplan, created a model in Sketch Up, and then rendered it in V-Ray with appropriate materials, lighting, signage and furniture.

4 week project: - Collaborated with a team to design an exterior for the International Center for Creativity relocation project. - Explored various concepts using a given architectural program. - Proposed 4 ideas for the building by developing a masterplan, designing different layouts, and designing different exterior aesthetics.

4 week group project: - Collaborated with a team to create a concept for the Alfa Romeo 2035 Shooting Brake Quadrifoglio. - Sculpted a fifth scale clay model and maintained accuracy by using orthographics and concept sketches. - Incorporated 3D printed parts that were designed and modeled in CAD.

4 week project: - Designed 2 student desk concepts for the International Center for Creativity. - Generated ideas using hand and digital sketching, rapid prototyping, and various research methods. - Modeled 2 designs in Solid Works, rendered in Keyshot, and presented the process and ideas to the client.
