Reinaldo Sepulveda

Majored in Mechanical Engineering
Georgia Institute of Technology, Class of 2016
From Santa Clara, CA
I've worked as an engineer for around 3 years and I'm going on 2 years of working for a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech. On top of studying and learning new things every day, I also dedicate a lot of my time to research and developing projects in the Sustainable Design and Manufacturing Lab, led by PhD Bert Bras. Most of our projects delve into understanding how technology can leverage sustainability, but generally were really all over the place. During my undergrad and little after, I was very interested in electronic waste, so along with a couple of friends, we tried to start a recycling plant. I think it was Keith Richards who said you cant always get what you want, and he was right. Hahaha. But thanks to all the time and work we put into that project I learned that I had a lot to learn, and jumped into Bechtel working as a mechanical engineer. Ive grown and developed most of the skills I have today thanks to the record breaking projects I was involved in at Bechtel. Ive had the opportunity to coordinate engineering coming from different countries; develop high and low level calculations for plant processes; write up technical specifications, material requisitions and I participate in the procurement process for heavy equipment. I strongly believe that life is fun and the more the merrier. I try to always get to now whats going on in other departments and think that communication is by far the most important trait that any engineer must have in order to succeed. When Im not at work or watching a new series with my wife at home, we enjoy going out to the "new bar" on the corner or biking to Stone Mountain. Some of my more expensive hobbies are traveling and fixing things around the house. Ive been to most countries in South America (Colombia, Venezuela and Paraguay are still on the list) and our next big trip has to be Europe!
