I am currently a Junior at Pacific Lutheran University studying Politics and Government and Hispanic Studies. I am passionate about international education, evidenced by my study away experiences in Leon, Nicaragua and Oxford, England, along with my participation in my university's International Honors program and my upcoming internship/research project in Guatemala and upcoming study away trip to Uruguay in January 2018.
My academic excellence is demonstrated by my 3.97 GPA, membership in the Phi Kappa Phi honor society, participation in the International Honors program including being one of 15 students selected to study abroad at the University of Oxford for 6 months, and selection as the Humanities Scholar, given to a single student in the Humanities.
I am also passionate about service. In the summer of 2016 I traveled with my university and the nonprofit Living Water to Nicaragua to build a well in a community without safe water access. Additionally, I have volunteered at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital and Seattle Children's Hospital as a music performer, tutored high school students at Peace Community Center, conducted a campaign to raise over $5,000 for a PLU alum to visit his home country of South Sudan, volunteered multiple times through my university's Center for Community Engagement and Service for multiple projects, and voluntarily led a grant writing team to raise over $22,000 for my high school's STEM program. In April 2016 I was recognized by my university for my service by receiving the Gladys Mortvedt Voluntary Service Award and Anderson/Van Beek Service Scholarship.
For the 2017-2018 school year I will be working as the Civic Engagement Director for the Associated Students of Pacific Lutheran University, as well as a Kelmer Roe Research Fellow to put together a digital humanities map of the memorial sites I will be visiting in Guatemala over this summer.

Run ASPLU elections for Senate and Executive positions by coordinating advertising and voting events.
Attend ASPLU Senate meetings and advise when legislation is directly related to Civic Engagement,
Lead Lute Vote, a group that registers students to vote, by hiring and supervising a Data Manager and Volunteer Coordinator, partnering with the Washington Bus, and planning events for voter registration and voter education.
Participate in and help coordinate lobbying initiatives and other political activism on a local, state, and federal scale.

Paid research project that brings the wisdom of the Humanities disciplines to bear on enduring human questions & the contemporary problems of our time.
Conducted research in Guatemala on the monuments that have been constructed to remember their recent civil war.
Creating a digital humanities project by mapping these memorial sites online with added descriptions.
