- Promote the Agency's mission of "Better Health Care for all Floridians" through management of the work unit, and coordination with other sections of the Agency, other governmental entities, providers, provider associations, the Legislature, and the public.
- Coordinates and directs the resolution of any complaints related to the management or operation of the unit and the actions of its staff.
- Researches, compiles information, and prepares reports required in completing special assignments, formulating management decisions, and compiling and analyzing data related to administrative, regulatory, and planning issues.
- Maintains liaison with other offices within the agency, other state agencies, health care professional associations, and other individuals and organizations related to background screening.
- Ensure the continuity of office work during the absence of the Unit Manager and exercises independent judgment in order to meet deadlines on actions related to Background Screening.
- Responsible for obtaining signatures on correspondence and sign-off on other products in order to ensure a timely and proper response; ensures interoffice and external communications are handled properly, and pending items receive follow-up action as needed.
- Conducts quality assurance oversight for employees.
- Provides assistance in developing business and system processes including system analysis, requirements gathering, and testing.
- Review and process applicants per Florida Statutes.
- Coordinates and schedules hearings for cases that warrant further review with applicants and/or attorneys.
- Attend informal and/or DOAH hearings related to the appeals process and provide testimony.
- Review and analyze documentation received to determine applicant compliance and send the appropriate notifications to the applicant.
- Plan, analyze, prioritize, and manage high volumes of multiple assignments and tasks in a timely manner.
- Provide testimony/written report in support of applicant cases.
- Provide technical assistance and consultation to clients and other state agency staff.
- Maintain highly confidential information.
- Analyze all incoming applicants and make determinations of eligibility based on Florida Statutes.
- Review and analyze supplemental reports and documentation.
- Provide technical assistance and consultation with health care providers, Field Offices, and other Agency staff regarding screening results and the Background Screening website.
- Coordinate with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Federal Bureau of Investigations, and other state law enforcement agencies regarding screening results.
- Send appropriate notifications and input results into the data system within established timeframes.
- Plan, analyze, prioritize, and manage high volumes of multiple assignments and tasks in a timely manner.
- Analyze, identify, organize, and process all incoming mail with/without fees using Laserfiche and Versa every day for the intended Unit.
- Approve and deny User Registration Agreements sent in by providers for their facility.
- Answer any calls that are directed to our Unit and handle the customer accordingly or direct them to another Unit that can assist them with their questions.
- Quality Assurance of images and data that have been processed before sending to other departments.
- Process applications/mail that comes in and distribute to appropriate units.
- Data Entry into the system for the Licensure Unit
- Effectively communicate with clients and applicants and keep them updated on the screening process, system updates, and any other questions they may have about the Clearinghouse.
- Answer incoming emails and ensure that all questions have been answered with knowledgeable information and in detail.
- Prioritize work items to ensure all are completed on a daily basis.
- Calmly resolve and de-escalate any issues with applicants.
- Collect and ensure that all information is updated on every person if comments need to be added into the Database for an applicant.
