I am a CIO who transforms inefficient IT organizations into cost-effective, high-performing entities. I am a change agent, and business partner who builds innovative cultures that successfully meet business challenges and support sustained growth. I have a passion for motivating culturally diverse teams to deliver breakthrough results, developing talent, and creating sustainable value from cutting-edge technologies, specifically:
IT Restructuring: Transformed the UTi Worldwide information technology organization into a center-lead enterprise function with unprecedented results over five years; refreshed core infrastructures, consolidated sales, financial, warehouse and web solutions, and developed a new freight forwarding platform using modern technologies and development methods.
Transformational Leadership: Decreased annual IT expenses 48% while tripling productivity and improving quality by transforming The Duty Free Shops IT organization from cost-centric, decentralized silos into a high-performing global team of employees and vendor partners.
Shared Services: Led a $50M initiative that consolidated procurement, distribution, finance, and IT functions from 3 divisions into a single shared services unit for a subsidiary of the Jardine Matheson Group operating 700 grocery, drug, and specialty retail stores in Hong Kong, China.
Strategic Outsourcing: Achieved significant cost savings and productivity improvements at 3 global companies by transitioning legacy applications to offshore support, automating infrastructure monitoring, deploying a global service desk, and developing a custom enterprise application.
Cross-Cultural Expertise: Successfully managed internal and external resources in 69 countries, lived and worked in Hong Kong.

Vice President Information Technology (CIO) at Trader Joe's
My strategic focus is to improve system stability and resiliency, while building trust in the department and creating a foundation for efficient store growth. I focus on the following leadership themes:
Vision and Purpose The aim is to understand the business vision and operating culture, and involving key stakeholders to develop and execute an IT vision and purpose that fits.
High Performance The aim is to get the right Crew in the right seats on the bus, develop high potential talent, leverage vendors effectively, and actively manage performance.
Service Culture The aim is to change the expectations of our internal customers and the mindset of our Crew from good enough to make it better. We focus on speed, quality and continuous improvement.
Incident Response The aim is to minimize the business impact of systems issues by deploying a comprehensive incident management process. The process reduces incidents and yields improved communication across departmental and company boundaries.
Financial Controls The aims are to a) provide visibility to every dollar spent on IT, b) optimize the vendor eco-system, and c) yield savings to self-fund new investment to the greatest extent possible.
Cyber-Security The aim is to focus on being secure, not just passing the PCI audit. We deployed 24/7 cyber-security event monitoring, implemented an incident management process, and increased security awareness company-wide.
Drive for Results I steadfastly push myself and others to deliver quantified value from investments in IT because every dollar spent on IT is one that is not spent on our customers, stores and products.
