Understanding Huntington's Disease and its Impact on Families Affected
This paper does an in-depth study of Huntington’s disease and its impact on families affected by this disease. Huntington’s disease {HD} is a rare genetic disorder that that causes neurons in the brain to decompose. As parts of the brain deteriorate, the body begins to breakdown, which eventually leads to death. The rareness of the disorder causes people to not know much of HD. This study will consist of a secondary qualitative literature review that focuses on helping people have a deeper understanding of how Huntington’s disease affects a person physically, mentally, and emotionally. In addition, this research will provide primary data on the impact Huntington’s disease has on families. It is important to bring awareness about Huntington’s disease, so early signs and symptoms can be identified, and possible treatments can be discussed. The purpose is to bring more attention to the focus on medical research that will help cure the disease.
