Rory Wilson

I am a senior double majoring in Public Service & Public Policy and Sociology at Arizona State University. I have held several internships at A New Leaf, a nonprofit that helps individuals and families escape homelessness, domestic violence and other crises. Some of my major projects include creating a brochure and other supporting documents for a tour of a new facility that houses families; writing acknowledgement letters, informal reports and grant proposals; and developing a marketing strategy to increase brand awareness among government officials. Currently, I serve as a commissioner on the Town of Fountain Hills Community Services Commission. As a member on this commission, I advise the Fountain Hills Town Council on matters relating to parks and recreation, events, and youth and adult services. I also recently started my term as a member of the Board of Directors for the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network in Phoenix. With efficient organizational and problem-solving skills, I have an ambition for change and affinity for helping people.

Pi Alpha Alpha, School of Public Affairs & Administration International Honor Society: Pi Alpha Alpha (PAA) International Honor Society is the Global Honors Society for Public Affairs & Administration. The purpose of PAA "is to encourage and recognize outstanding scholarship and accomplishment in public affairs and administration. Its objectives, such as fostering integrity, professionalism, and effective performance, promote the advancement of quality in the education and practice of the art and science of public affairs and administration. PAA membership identifies those with the highest performance levels in educational programs preparing them for public service careers". Undergrad students who are inducted in PAA need to rank in the top 10% of their graduating class, provided that: (a) They have completed 15 semester hours of course work required for the public affairs or public administration major or its equivalent; (b) They have maintained an average grade of 3.5 on a scale of 4.0 in all courses in public affairs and public administration, and at least a 3.0 in all course work. (c) They have met the requirements of (a) and (b) above and are in at least the last semester or quarter of their junior year.
