Assistant Director of Fitness at Miami University
• Perform duties with limited supervision and is responsible for making significant independent decisions
• Provide supervision of the Recreational Sports Center and equipment safety checks to ensure the health and well-being of patrons
• Assist with the recruiting, hiring, training, supervising and evaluating of the Group Fitness staff (30-40)
• Direct and/or compile daily/weekly reports/updates of employee files including; merit points, area usage reports, staff phone list, etc.
• Conduct daily program area assessment, facility inspection, equipment inventories, and takes appropriate action
• Supervise the coordination of special classes and special events
• Evaluate all group exercise classes and instructors in all formats
• Instruct approximately 2-5 classes per week (2-5 hours weekly) and coordinates to fill any open fitness shifts
• Responsible for creating the class schedules based on participant and instructor feedback
• Design and implement all training protocol for current group exercise staff and individuals enrolled in the Instructor Training program
• Assist with the Yoga Alliance 200 hour yoga training program through coordination efforts
• Assist the Fitness team with administrative work including, but not limited to; program development, management and evaluation, inventory, equipment and policy/procedure research and staff manuals
• Assist with coordinating, conducting and hosting fitness instructional clinics and workshops (AFAA, Spinning, etc.)
• Required to have knowledge and ability to teach proper use and techniques of over 200 pieces of fitness exercise equipment
• Work with other departments on all RSC collaborative events, programming, or other multi-activity reservations
• Collaborate with other RSC departments for developing marketing materials
• Assist with facility coverage and other departmental special events
• Attend regional and national conferences/meetings
• Completes other duties as assigned
