"An Evaluation of the Berea Summer Food Service Program"
The SFSP is funded by the USDA, and this year was sponsored by Berea College and Grow Appalachia. The purpose of our evaluation was to determine if the expansion increased access for families, especially food insecure families, and we determined that it did: of participants with low and very low food security, the majority of them were new to the program this year, and there was a significant positive correlation between frequency of program use, rating of program as definitely improving access, and low or very low food security status.
