Laura Sjoquist

I am a fourth year graduate pharmacy student at Cedarville University School of Pharmacy on rotation (APPEs) in Cleveland, OH at the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals. I have completed a Bachelors of Science in Pharmaceutical Science and minor in Bible. It is my intention to pursue a PGY1 and PGY2 residency in either neurology, pediatrics or possibly psychiatric care. I hope to use my skills, education, & personal abilities to gain experience in pediatric and adolescent neurodevelopmental medicine. Long term, I aim to expand the profession of pharmacy through a collaborative practice model as a developmental clinical pharmacist in order to improve the longevity & quality of life of individuals with neuro-atypical conditions. I served as legislative chair for the Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) Cedarville chapter during the 2016 - 17 academic year. I am also a Phi Lambda Sigma (Pharmacy Leadership Society) chapter member, American Pharmacist Association - ASP (APhA) member, Ohio Pharmacist Association (OPA) member, American Society of Health Systems Pharmacy (ASHP-SSHP) member, and an USATF certified track and field coach and official. I competed as a Pentathlete, Heptathlete on the Cedarville University Women's Varsity Track and Field team for 5 years, including my first 2 years of pharmacy school. I served on Cedarville's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) as representative for the Women's track team. Additionally, I served nationally as the Great-Midwest Athletic Conference chair and national representative to the NCAA Division II National SAAC for 3 years. It is my hope to use my NCAA Division II athletic experiences in my pharmacy career to support and advocate for athletic opportunities and outlets for children with neurological conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, in addition to promoting overall mental health.
