Pet Care Associate at Must Love Pawz

I supervised boarding and daycare dogs throughout the day. This included take all dogs out for potty breaks, delivering meals and medications throughout the day, and setting up play groups. I was also responsible for spending one on one activity time with dogs not in play group due to various reasons (for example dog aggressive, nervous/shy, or injured). I bathed dogs at owners request and cleaned rooms after dogs checked out.

Intern at Animal Care Sanctuary

I spent time cleaning kennels and cages, feeding the animals, and walking dogs. I also did behavior and physical assessments on incoming cats and dogs, handled medications, and some adoption meets. While in the clinic, I prepared surgery packs, prepped the animals for surgery, and restrained animals for vaccines and IVs. I also placed microchips and have some experience with giving vaccines, drawing blood, and inserting IV catheters myself. I was responsible with fostering 2 dogs and working on their specific behavioral problems so they later could be adopted.

Obler Summer Research
I spent 4 weeks researching Peromyscus leucopus (white-footed mice) by setting up traps at the Tanglewood Nature Center. Mice that were caught were weighed, sexed, tagged, and released to collect data on there population and behavior. Feeding patches were built to observe foraging behavior under various conditions. Vegetation analysis was done on near by trees that had previously contained nest boxes.
