I am currently a senior at UC Davis. I am a dedicated, hard-working student, giving my all to every task. In the past, I have focused on my studies and my creative writing (poetry, short stories, novels, etc.). I received many awards in high school, such as a membership in the California Scholarship Federation and the status of valedictorian. I am also, as of April 2014, a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. I have also had poetry published on Medusa's Kitchen, an online branch of Rattlesnake Press that is dedicated to publishing poetry by writers in Northern California. Most of my experience, gathered from such activities as helping create my high school yearbook, is in writing, interviewing, researching, sales, editing, and some computer programs (ex. InDesign). I also have experience in leading others and public speaking, gained through my time on the Leadership Team for my high school (Anderson New Technology High School in Anderson, CA). I completed my creative writing honors thesis Winter Quarter 2015, titled "Ghost Dance and Other Tales from Exit 666". I am currently working on my critical honors thesis about slash fanfiction and the presentation of homosexuality in Harry Potter. A preview of my critical honors thesis will be presented at the UC Davis Undergraduate Research Conference on May 2nd. I will graduate June 2015. I am willing to learn any new skill needed for a task and have been informed that I am a quick learner. My most prominent interests are writing, reading, surfing the Internet, watching TV and movies, listening to music, and studying mythology and fairy tales. I most want to gain experience in editing and publishing in the book publishing industry, but I would also like to have hands-on experience in the editing and publishing of magazines and newspapers.
