Summer Intern at Insight Wealth Group
Insight Wealth Group is a wealth management firm offering advisory services to high net worth individuals and is a registered branch of Arete Wealth Management, LLC Member FINRA/SIPC. A few of my projects included: 1) Prospecting: I conducted market research to find prospective clients that fit our ideal client profile. 2) Business development: one of my tasks was to create documents for new clients that includes a comprehensive overview of their financial situation. Using Microsoft Word and Adobe software, I created documents that could be completed by new clients electronically. 3) Due Diligence: I worked with the broker dealer's Director of Capital Markets to analyze new investment opportunities to add to the Arete platform. I worked with various investment companies to obtain the necessary due diligence documents and got an overview of the whole due diligence process. 4) Data management: Insight Wealth Group was in the process of transitioning into a new web-based advisory software (eMoney). I transitioned all client accounts and information from the old software (Envestnet) into the new one. The area where I gained the most experience was in working with clients. I was able to observe meetings between advisors and clients which helped me understand the importance of relationships in the financial services industry. Trust and integrity are the most important characteristics of a successful advisor, and I was able to observe that first-hand.

Chairman & Founder at Dordt College Republicans
I started the Dordt College Republicans to spread the Republican philosophy and ideals on Dordt’s campus. We want to encourage political activism among Dordt’s student body and provide a way for students to get more involved with the unique political culture in Iowa. By joining the Dordt College Republicans, students have the opportunity to meet candidates and elected officials, attend political events throughout Iowa and the country, participate in debates and discussions on current issues, and get involved with campaigns. Students are learning about more than just politics. The events we attend help students develop skills that are relevant in any career. We gain experience networking, enhance our interpersonal skills, and become more comfortable in a professional environment which are all valuable skills for students of any major. Highlights of our organization so far: - Organized visits for 8 Republican Presidential candidates at Dordt College (Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorina, Bobby Jindal, and Rick Santorum) - Hosted one of the largest caucus locations in Iowa - 1582 voters - 3 group trips to Washington DC - Attended 2 Republican Presidential debates
