My name is Sydney Zatz and I am a sophomore at the University of Iowa. I was born and raised in Eagan, Minnesota and I am currently working towards earning my undergraduate degree here at Iowa. I am double-majoring in Journalism and Sports Studies.
Ever since middle school I've always been known for being actively involved outside of the classroom. In high school I was an avid choir student. I also spent time working with the theater department and other various student orgs. I got involved with my high school newscast, Eagan AM my junior year and from there my passion for journalism was born.
Here at Iowa I have continued to become involved outside of the classroom. I work with the Big Ten Student U, S.T.A.T. (Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow) and I am assistant producing and a weather anchor for Daily Iowan TV this fall. I also have my own radio show on the student-run radio station KRUI and I am a TA for the Passport Project. Last year I also took part in Dance Marathon and EdOnCampus.
In my free time I enjoy going to concerts and binge-watching reality TV. I am also a content creator for the odyssey. I enjoy traveling and aspire to travel to as many countries as possible. If I could travel to any place in the world, I would choose Greece.

I was apart of the food and beverage team at the Crayola experience. I not only maintained a clean and friendly environment in the Crayola cafe. But, I helped to ring up customers on the register and I cooked and prepared their meals. I rotated between the Crayola cafe and the Snack Shack. At the snack shack, I was responsible for serving guests and keeping a clean and friendly environment.

Passport Project First-Year Seminar Peer Mentor at The University of Iowa
I am a teachers assistant for the Passport Project. A class that requires students to go out and explore Iowa City. How they obtain a grade in the class is by going out and writing about their experiences. There are several different category requirements the students must meet such as "humanities","life at Iowa" and "performing arts." I am responsible for a small group of students. I am in charge of making sure their work is done on time and grading their assignments.

Assistant Producer/Anchor/Reporter at Daily Iowan TV
I presented the weather every Monday night last semester (Spring 2016.) I also film, edit and report once a week on various events around Iowa City. Some stories I have reported on include stories about sexual harassment, the local Iowa City Starbucks and how they have been giving back to the community. I have also reported on downtown Iowa City construction and the Iowa City Summer of the Arts festivals. Fall 2016, I am currently assistant producing.

I work at events such as Women’s Basketball and wrestling. I help film, set up the cameras and run the event from the production side. I’ve also worked with the Big Ten Network at the 2014 Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Minnesota Gophers football game.

I am responsible for running my own radio show "Zatz the Bass." Every Tuesday I find and play music to entertain listeners. I also give reports on the weather and what's going on in Iowa City.
