Seminar on Peer Reviewed Journal Articles and Distinguished Speaker Series

Researched and presented article reviews on STEM cell therapy and clinics and invited UC Berkley professor-researcher Dr. Hernan G. Garcia to talk with my class and learn more about his work in genetics and the role of DNA in the developmental programs of cells using a fruit fly embryo. I felt that the findings of my article reviews intersected well with his research findings and could potentially lead to a baseline cure for many genetic diseases.

Bone Quality in Diabetes Type I Mellitus

Lab research at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) using rodent models to assess diabetic changes in bone quality through hierarchical analysis of biochemical and biomechanical properties. Through various assays, I studied the collagen and AGE amounts, and the mechanical factors of the bone in rodent samples with diabetes, without diabetes, and with the diabetic treatment. The findings showed that the treatment worked and suggested a positive correlation between diabetes and osteoporosis.

Building Biodegradable Products Using Ecovative Mushroom Material

Used the mycelium material of mushrooms to create daily desk organizers, such as pen/pencil holders, to provide a more environmentally friendly and biodegradable option and replace the use of plastic ones.
