February, 04 2022 - Verified by University of TampaI taught multiple 6th-grade math classes in a dynamic charter school setting, managing all aspects of the classroom throughout the school day. I created a safe and inclusive environment by implementing effective classroom management strategies that fostered student engagement and learning. To ensure academic growth, I assessed student performance regularly, aligning progress with established standards. Additionally, I collaborated closely with parents, staff, and students to provide a well-rounded and supportive educational experience that encouraged both academic and personal development.
At Leto High School, I focused on supporting English Language Learners (ELL) in 9th and 10th grades. I created and delivered lesson plans designed to foster language acquisition and academic growth, with activities aimed at improving listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency. I provided individualized and small-group support to meet the unique needs of ELL students and help them build confidence in their language and academic skills.
This internship provided valuable insight into the high school setting and the structure of charter schools. I implemented mathematical lesson plans for 9th-grade students, providing small-group and one-on-one support to enhance comprehension. I monitored student progress and adjusted my teaching strategies as needed while fostering a respectful and inclusive classroom environment that encouraged participation and academic engagement.
At Lockhart Elementary School, I worked primarily with low-income and bottom-quartile students, providing targeted instructional support for 4th-grade math. I collaborated with the lead teacher to develop and implement strategies that addressed individual student needs in foundational math concepts. I supported the classroom by delivering lesson plans, promoting positive behavior, and helping students build confidence and engagement in their academic abilities.
