Tyler Bogaczyk

I work under Dr. Sharon Larson in the Center for Population Health Research at the Lankenau Institute for Medical Research. Our work is focused on population health research and characterizing the barriers to healthcare for patients in the greater Philadelphia area.

Responsibilities:
~Designed and administered Community Health Needs Assessments to identify patients falling through gaps in the health system
~Assisted in creating a comprehensive report for the Mayor of Philadelphia assessing the impact of opioids on local communities
~Applied predictive models to demographic data to estimate the projected benefits of implementing a safe consumption facility in
various neighborhoods of Philadelphia

Working under the direction and supervision of the Child Life Specialists, I acted as a companion to patients and assisted the staff with activities for the children cared for at the Janet Weis Children's Hospital (JWCH). By assisting staff with enrichment activities I helped provide an optimum patient experience in the safest possible environment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
~Offer playroom and bedside activities to pediatric patients
~Offer playroom and bedside activities to patients siblings
~Offer respite care to patients families
~Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the playrooms
~Distribute and organize donations for patients
~Help with special events that occur during the shift

I spent 2 years as a research assistant in the department of Epidemiology and Health Services Research at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. I collaborated with project investigators, physicians, residents and patients to identify behavioral health gaps in the community and assisted with developing interventions that eliminate said gaps.

Responsibilities:
~Patient engagement and recruitment for research studies
~Tracking and entering data into programs such as Excel, Redcap, Qualtrics, Vizio
~Conducting literature searches and literature reviews for grants
~Data entry and statistical analysis with Stata software
~Assisting with small internal funding requests
~Organizing and setting up focus groups
~Scheduling team meetings
~Conducting 1-on-1 motivational interviews with patients
