From Longmont, Colorado
I am a math educator with classroom teaching experience who is studying machine learning and data science. I believe that educational games have enormous potential to impact students beyond what any textbook or worksheet can do. I strongly believe that it is my duty as a mathematics teacher to help as many students as I can.
I believe that to make a successful math education game requires the intersection of ideas from four major disciplines: math education, game development/design, gamification/motivational psychology, and machine learning/artificial intelligence.
Colleagues describe me as a hard-working, innovative, reliable, and risk-taking educator. In addition, I view myself as highly ambitious and always open and willing to learn and expose myself to new ideas and perspectives. I'm never afraid to admit that I was wrong, but I am always trying to improve myself as best as I can.
I will soon have a Master's Degree in Educational Technology from Michigan State University, and I have a BA in Mathematics from the University of Colorado at Boulder. I am also working on a Machine Learning Engineer Nanodegree and a Deep Learning Foundations program, both through Udacity's learning platform.
