Zachary Oemcke

During the winter break of 2023, Emmanuel College reached out a very select few students regarding applying for a Fulbright Scholarship. To even be asked to apply is an incredible honor in itself.

I was recognized for my outstanding academic achievement with a spot on the Dean's list.

I graduated in the top 10 of my class.

In February of 2025, I was invited to apply to the Emmanuel College branch of Psi Chi, the international honors society for psychology students. I am extremely honored and grateful to receive this opportunity.

My first show with Emmanuel College involved being a backstage crew member. Some of my responsibilities included setup and breakdown of the set, as well as moving props during the show.

Terryville High's Student Council is definitely one of my highlights during my time in high school. I was elected as Secretary Treasurer in 2022 and participated in monthly Board of Education meetings relaying information in regard to student life. My most impactful moment occurred in 2020, where I took the initiative to volunteer many hours to a fundraiser supporting local charities. This fundraiser was organized in memory of a sophomore who tragically lost her life (https://www.fox61.com/amp/article/news/local/stuff-the-bus-fundraiser-at-terryville-high-school-to-remember-madeline-bell/520-7a3471a7-df80-45e5-b78d-10e3fc890a2f). In 2022, I was elected as a member of the National Honor Society. Some of my duties included planning fundraisers and events for the town and school. Along with these organizations, I participated in the Terryville High School Theater Program, Pep Club, Gay/Straight Alliance, Academic Bowl. I also became the Student Intern for the Music Department and President of the marching and concert band.
